Younger Contracting originally started in 1998 by Alex Younger as a sole proprietorship.

Alex bought his first dump truck, track hoe and dozer and hired, his now father in law, Wes to help with the mechanic work. While working on the equipment, Alex met Wes’s daughter Jenny.

Alex and Jenny dated and were married in December 1999. With this new family of three, Alex and Jenny decided to give the business a break in 2001, and go to work as an Operator/Forman.

Alex worked on many big projects such as:
  • Tri-Met’s Light Rail system,
  • Lewis and Clark Collage,
  • Portland Convention Center,
  • Hillsboro Airport,
  • Clark County Amphitheater,
  • and the West Side “Big Pipe” Combined Sewer Overflow Project in downtown Portland.

Upon compilation of the West Side “Big Pipe” Alex and Jenny agreed it was time to start the business back up.

So as of January 2007 Alex and Jenny began running Younger Contracting as a partnership. With their Familythree children, Alex and Jenny have created a balance between work and family time.

In the Spring of 2008 Younger Contracting switched from a partnership to a corporation. This was a big step for the growing, hardworking family business. Now with Jenny Younger as President and Alex Younger as Vice-President, Younger Contracting becomes one of the predominately woman owned companies in Oregon.

With this change they can still be found working out on equipment together or enjoying various family activities. They’re dedicated to their family, and they teach their children by example the importance of good work habits.
